This month, our caregiver spotlight is Lynette S. She has been providing compassionate Stockton in-home care services as part of the Alegre Home Care team since 2007, helping individuals remain comfortable, supported, and independent in their own homes.

For nearly two decades, Lynette has dedicated herself to caring for others. Her genuine love for caregiving, commitment to her clients, and desire to make a difference have made her a valued member of the Alegre Home Care team.

Providing Compassionate Stockton In-Home Care Services

Every client has different needs, preferences, routines, and personalities. Lynette says one of her favorite parts of caregiving is getting to know each individual and learning what makes their care experience unique.

“My favorite aspects of the job are meeting the variety of people and learning the needs of each individual,” she says.

That ability to connect with clients can turn everyday caregiving into meaningful relationships and memorable experiences. One of Lynette’s favorite memories involves a former client and an outing to the flea market. Her client would ride around in his scooter while Lynette walked alongside him. Together, they would browse the different items and playfully debate what he should—and shouldn’t—buy.

“We used to go back-and-forth on what he should and shouldn’t get. We had a lot of fun.”

It is moments like these that demonstrate how in-home care can be about more than assistance with daily activities. For clients and caregivers alike, it can create opportunities for companionship, connection, and enjoying everyday life.

Lynette’s Journey Into Caregiving

Lynette’s path to becoming a caregiver began with someone very close to her. When her aunt became sick, Lynette stepped in to provide care for her until the end of her life. That experience helped Lynette discover something meaningful about herself; she genuinely loved helping others.

“I realized that I loved helping her, so I acquired my clientele and have been working as a caregiver ever since,” Lynette shares.

Since joining Alegre Home Care in 2007, Lynette has continued to build her career around that same sense of compassion. As a Home Health Aide, her responsibilities include supporting clients with transfers, Hoyer lift assistance, standby assistance, and basic activities of daily living (ADLs).

For Lynette, however, caregiving is about much more than completing a list of tasks.

“What separates me from everyone else is that I really love what I do. It’s more than a job.”

A Caregiver Who Goes Above and Beyond

Lynette’s dedication has not gone unnoticed by the Alegre Home Care team. Lina Yalda, Client Services Manager at Alegre’s Stockton location, describes Lynette as a caregiver who consistently demonstrates the qualities that make a meaningful difference in her clients’ lives.

“We have selected Lynette for October’s employee of the month for her exceptional dedication, reliability and commitment to her clients,” Lina says. “She consistently demonstrates compassion, kindness, and understanding for her client’s needs and goes above and beyond to provide quality care. Those are all of the qualities of what being a caregiver means.”

The recognition mentioned by Lina capture what continues to make Lynette an important part of the Alegre team. Her approach to caregiving reflects the qualities Alegre Home Care values: reliability, compassion, patience, and a sincere desire to support clients in the comfort of their own homes.

Lynette’s commitment to helping others extends beyond her work as a caregiver. She is currently enrolled at San Joaquin Delta College, where she is pursuing an associate degree in health science. After completing her associate degree, she plans to transfer to California State University to pursue her bachelor’s degree.

Her professional background also includes experience as a medical assistant in a cardiologist’s office. That experience has given her additional knowledge and skills that complement her work providing Stockton in-home care services.

Lynette’s continued education reflects her dedication to growing within the health care field while continuing to make a difference in the lives of the people she serves.

Serving the Stockton Community with In-Home Care

Lynette provides care throughout Stockton and San Joaquin County, a diverse community with a rich multicultural heritage and a vibrant arts and entertainment scene. The area is home to older adults, individuals living with disabilities, people recovering from illness or injury, and others who may need assistance with activities of daily living. For many of these individuals, having compassionate support at home can help them continue living in a familiar environment while receiving the assistance they need.

Caregivers like Lynette play an important role in making that possible. After nearly 20 years with Alegre Home Care, Lynette continues to approach her work with the same motivation that first led her to caregiving: a genuine desire to help people.

Her story is a reminder that exceptional caregiving isn’t simply about providing physical assistance. It’s about seeing the person behind the care plan, understanding their individual needs, and bringing kindness and connection into their everyday lives.
