Alegre Home Care has been proudly serving seniors and people with disabilities for over thirty years. We also help people recover from injury or illness, and specialize in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. As a local in-home care agency, we ensure that care is highly personalized and community-focused. Our History
Charles Symes, Founder of Alegre Home Care, opened the agency in 1993 after serving in the Home Health and Homemaker Services industry for over 10 years. Alegre Home Care is a diverse, and inclusive in-home care agency, specializing in senior care and dementia care. What began as a single agency has grown into one of the Bay Area’s most trusted in-home care providers, serving clients across 13 counties from nine locations throughout the region.
For more than 30 years, Alegre Home Care has remained committed to helping older adults and individuals with specialized care needs maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life at home. As a licensed Home Care Organization through the California Department of Social Services, Alegre is recognized for its professional standards, inclusive culture, and dedication to exceptional service. The agency is also an active member of national and state industry associations and is proud to maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
In 2025 Alegre affiliated with Elder Care Alliance (ECA), a mission-driven nonprofit serving older adults across California. The strategic affiliation underscores ECA’s commitment to growing their impact and is guided by aligned values, shared dedication to inclusive practices, and similar people-first cultures. This affiliation expands the reach of Elder Care Alliance, strengthening its footprint in California and its capacity to meet the growing demand for home-based care.
About Our Home Care Organization Caregivers:
As a local in-home care agency, caregivers at Alegre Home Care often work and live in the same neighborhood. All caregivers are California State-Registered Home Care Aides, and receive continual training, support from the agency, and undergo a background check prior to being hired.
Our caregivers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California attend to each person with compassion, empathy, and respect. Our Care Managers work with the caregivers, the clients, and the clients’ family to develop personalized care plans tailored to each client’s unique needs.
